This work is a meditation in conjunction with the Pudding exhibition mix track focusing on a theme of music at varying times and places. Light, like sound, appears to travel at different speeds depending on what you’re listening to. <Pinus Waves> specifically centers on transcience and thoughts that appear when in motion. As someone who has moved around a lot through the years, a still composition feels as foreign as a quiet street in Seoul or Brooklyn. The grid was created from an analysis of the first 20 minutes of the mix, tracking the ebb and flow of audio layers. The placement of imagery follows different locations and times to create mashed-up overlaps that wouldn’t have existed otherwise. The imagery is a blend of natural materials (pine needles collected off the coast of Maine) and digital manipulation.
